American Culture

I am from Albania, an eastern european country. I came to America in 1996, I was 8 at the time and very young to understand culture. As I got older, I started to notice things. Going back and forth to my country, I saw that there were many differences between America and Albania. One of them was the way people dressed. Over here people are laid back when it comes to fashion and the way they look. They are very simple and dont really care about what other people think of them. As back home people really expand the term "dress to impress". They always have to look good even if they are just going to buy bread at the corner store. They follow up on the latest fashion trends, so they wont miss out or feel weird around their peers. They always like to stand out, it's like a competition in a runway show, everyone is trying to look better than the next person. Everytime I go back for vacation, I have people looking at me like I am a tourist, even though I am from there. My friends tell me I have become more American.

about me

My name is Reinald Mazreku. I am 23 years old, I came to baruch a year ago after graduating from Borough of Manhattan Community College, where I got my associates degree in Business Administration. I am often shy when it comes to speaking infront of a classroom, but as time passes by and I get to know my fellow classmates more and more, I tend to lose the shyness and open up with people. I come from Albania, an eastern european country, which is between Italy and Greece. I like Baruch for a lot of things and one of them is that it's one of the most cultural diverse school's in the world. Here you can find people of all races, all religions. I like learning about different cultures and traditions other than my own, and here is the place to do it. I hope management 3120 will be a fun experience, and I hope I will learn everything I need to know to succeed in the future.

PS: I am majoring in Finance and minoring in English.
